Africa had a long history of state formation and a great variety of social formations that can be traced back to many years before the 19th century when the European colonizers came to Africa (The African Political Dictionary, 1984). Common examples of such constructed states were popular along the Nile River valley in the years approximated to the 4000 years through 3000 BC.
