Background: focus on reduction of the greenhouse effect and the rise in the fuel costs. CI engines have gained preference over SI engines due to increased fuel efficiency. But critical consideration shows that CI engines are poor in fuel economy removing the advantage they have over SI engine. Therefore a need to consider other options to increase fuel efficiency.
