In the story by Kennedy, Eveline is seen to be paralyzed within an orbit of repetition which leaves her as a helpless animal. However, the story does not give suggestions that Eveline returned and continued living her life, even though it shows how Eveline is transformed into an automaton which lacks expression. Eveline fails to adopt change which could have made her live a better life with Frank as a husband and wife (Kennedy and Gioia 6).
