Change is one predominant topic in the novel (Maxwel). Though most changes were not wanted they were inevitable. The death of the Narrator’s mother is one event that brings changes in the life of the narrator. After her mother’s death, he has a void which he only bridges in his dream and remembers of the way things were different when his mother was alive.
